Flowers Still Blooming Everywhere . . .

I can't believe I still have so many flowers blooming this late in the summer. I think it's because we've had so much cool weather that by the time we get our record breaking hot weather (more coming this week) they couldn't catch up and be done by now. So consequently I have many flowers blooming. Usually this time of year I think it's pretty much Dahlias left which I don't think I'll see at all this year.

I never did find my Stargazer Lily. But happily I got these from Doris. They look young but are blooming just great.

My blue Lacecap Hydrangea. I was going to change this one back to pink but we

just got so many compliments on the brilliant blue I decided to leave it alone

and bought myself a pink one. But it's not a lacecap.

One of the new Daylilies I bought last summer. I have no idea what it is called but

it's sure pretty.

My hardy Geranium is finally blooming after being eaten by the deer last year. It

took it long enough to come back.

I bought a Rex Begonia for the first time this year. I've always looked at

them but never took one home with me. The person at the nursery said she takes

hers in the house for the winter and it does fine. That's why I ended up finally

buying one - hope it works for me.
A double Petunia that is in one of my Tipsy Pots. It's so gorgeous.

This is undoubtedly the prettiest New Guinia Impatients I've ever seen. It looks like silk.

Another Lupine is blooming and a Liatris and Coreopsis in the background.

I absolutely love the hot pink Yarrow that Sweet Bay sent me. I have it in 3

different places to enjoy when walking around looking at my flowers.

My Purple Heart took a real beating this winter. I usually bring them in the house

- I think I did one but the rest Bob put in the garage. I never thought they'd

make it out there but they did and now one is blooming. No, actually I think I

have another with 2 blooms but boy are they late - we usually enjoy them for a

couple of months I think.

Talk about being late - would you believe my wild Bleeding Heart is still

blooming?

Anyone know what this is - it just showed up one day a year or two ago. Looks like a

type of Salvia to me but I'm no expert.

Just went braindead on this one. I knew it a few minutes ago. It's an annual

here. Ahhhh yes, it's Portulaca. Pretty one too.

Normally I don't think Hosta blooms are all that impressive - I love Hostas for the

foliage. But this year they are blooming their little hearts out and look

totally different from their norm.

Nother one . . .

I suppose you might wonder why I don't do Fertilizer Friday anymore. There are a

couple of reasons but the main one is because I barely have time to do posts let

alone go and visit everyone on the FF list. I enjoy it but just don't have the

time lately. I can only work outside when the weather is cool so I'm slapping

this on and headed out before the record breaking heat shows up. I would have

gone out earlier and done this later but the mornings have been very cold here

and then it goes right into a little bit of comfortable for an hour or so and

then WHAM! It's up in the 80s or hotter. So I've lost a lot of hours of work

because of this. I told Bob the other day I haven't even had time to play in my

greenhouse. I usually spend hours up there replanting flowers - it's my

'me' time alone and I love it. But it's just been to cold early

in the morning (like the minute daylight appears I'm outta here) lately to do

that.

I suppose since we aren't getting any younger and both have health issues

we should plow about 10 or 12 of these flower gardens under but I just can't do

it. So I just keep plunking along, very slowly, take lots of breaks and try to

get it all done.
